More about the tour

🌿 Fatburen – the secret lake

Next available dates: July 5 and 26.

A walk through what once lay open – but is now hidden

It's hard to imagine today.

Here, in the middle of Södermalm, there was once a lake.
Not beautiful. Not still.
But essential – and ever-present.

Fatburen.

We follow the traces of the water through the city.
Through alleys, parks and places where history is no longer visible –
but still felt.

Here clothes were washed.
Here the city's dirt flowed.
Here people lived close to something they could neither escape nor do without.

It is a walk about contrasts.
About scents, work and everyday life.
About a city that grew – and what had to give way.

We move away from the obvious.
Into a Stockholm that lies just below the surface.

The walk ends at Maria Magdalena Church –
where traces of the past still linger.
