More about the tour
🌿 Culinary walk on Djurgården with the Vasa Museum
The walk takes place: May 30, May 31 (fully booked), July 4, July 25, August 22, October 3 and October 17.
Flavors, stories and greenery in the heart of the city
Join a flavorful walk through Royal Djurgården – where nature, history and gastronomy meet at a leisurely pace.
We move through lush stretches and historical environments, past museums and water features, while stories about Stockholm emerge – about people, meals and a city in change.
A journey in taste and time
The walk begins at the Nordic Museum, where Swedish food culture is placed in a larger context – from old-time feasts to today's Nordic cuisine. Here we start with an appetizer in an environment where history is still present.
At the Vasa Museum, we meet the ship Vasa and the story of the great power era's ambitions and mistakes. Here, a main course inspired by Swedish ingredients is served – a meal where past and present meet.
We continue along Djurgården's shorelines, through quiet places such as the Galärvarv Cemetery, where the history of shipping lives on. Here, the story of Lars Olsson Smith is woven in – and how Swedish drinking culture changed fundamentally.
In Old Djurgården, we meet wooden houses, narrow streets and traces of entertainment and summer residences from another time.
A quiet ending
The walk ends at Djurgårdsvarvet, where we round off with dessert and coffee or tea.
After a few hours filled with taste, movement and stories, you leave Djurgården with new perspectives – and perhaps a new relationship with both the food and the place.
