A bite of old Stockholm
What did it taste like to be new to Stockholm 150 years ago?
What did people eat when money was scarce?
What did a wedding party look like when family and neighbors had to help out?
And what was actually put on the table when everyday life finally made room for a little celebration?
During this walk, we follow the people in Per Anders Fogelström's Stockholm – not through kings and battlefields, but through the food they ate, the drink they shared, and the meals that marked life's great moments.
We start with the simple travel food that could accompany a young job seeker on the way to the capital.
Along the way, we stop for several samples. We talk about the obvious place of schnapps in everyday life, about the warm welcome meal for those who came hungry to the city, and about how a simple Stockholm marriage could turn into a real wedding party with the help of borrowed clothes, potlucks and good will.
The walk ends in Vita Bergen, where we gather around coffee or tea and something sweet – just like when Henning and Lotten celebrate their simple but significant wedding.
This is not fine dining.
It's something much more human.
A story about Stockholm, served one bite at a time.
"Some city walks tell the story.
During this one, you get to taste it."
