Fogelström's Poor Fellows
Current Occasions: May 9 + June 30
Stockholm 1860–1880 – in work, struggle and dreams
Join us in a Stockholm that is growing – and struggling.
Inspired by Per Anders Fogelström's City of My Dreams, we move through Södermalm, where people built the city with their own hands.
We start at Bryggartäppan.
A piece of preserved city – where the story almost remains in the ground.
Here we meet the workers.
Bricklayers, brick carriers, people in motion.
Those who carried, built and sometimes fell.
We follow the road through the neighborhoods towards Nytorget and on to Lotsgatan.
Through environments where Henning and Lotten could have lived their lives.
Here are the dreams.
But also the congestion, poverty and the struggle for something better.
We stop at stories about work and resistance –
like the women who organized one of the city's early strikes.
This is a walk close to the ground.
About people who rarely got a place in the history books –
but who built Stockholm.
