More about the tour

🏛 The Architects' Unfulfilled Dreams

Next available dates: July 3 and September 29.

The Stockholm that was never built

Join us on a walk through a Stockholm that never became reality.

We move through the city's most central environments – but see something other than what is in front of us. Here, there were once ideas for another Stockholm. Bigger. Bolder. Sometimes stranger.

At Nybroplan, a skyscraper could have risen to the sky.
By the water, palaces were designed in shapes that drew inspiration from far away.
And in the heart of the city, there was a constant battle between vision and reality.

We follow the traces of architects such as Ferdinand Boberg and others who dared to think beyond their time – but who were stopped by criticism, economics or political decisions.

The walk moves along Strandvägen, through Kungsträdgården and on towards Gamla stan, before we end at Slussen – where the city's future is still being shaped.

This is the story of what was never built.
And about how even the invisible shapes the city we see today.

This is what you will experience:
