More about the tour
Fogelström's poor characters
Discover Stockholm during the years 1860–1880 through the eyes of Per Anders Fogelström and his beloved novel City of My Dreams. Join Den Gröna Guiden, on a living city walk where history meets literature and the stories come to life.
We walk from Bryggartäppan to Lotsgatan and visit the places that Fogelström described in such detail. Feel the wings of history as we follow in the footsteps of bricklayers, brick carriers and other workers who built the city. Hear about Stockholm's early women's strike and meet the strength of the women who stood up for their rights.
At Nytorget and among the charming 18th-century houses, we get to know Lotten and Henning, two of Fogelström's most beloved characters. Here, in the neighborhoods where they grew up and met, a time characterized by poverty, dreams and optimism is reflected.
We explore Per Anders Fogelström's own life experiences and visit the place where Henning and Lotten "lived" in the novel. Each step takes us deeper into the story and gives a stronger understanding of how Stockholm changed during these crucial decades.
This walk is an invitation to immerse yourself in Fogelström's world and experience the places that inspired his masterpiece.
Welcome to an experience that awakens both memories and dreams!
