A city walk through Skeppsholmen and Kastellholmen
Between quays, bridges and calm waters lie three islands that offer a Stockholm where pace and sounds gradually change.
This guided city walk in Stockholm takes you from the city's movement to islands where tranquility, views and stories take place.
The walk starts in Berzelii park, a historical meeting place where the city's pulse has always been close. From here we move across squares and quays, where the rhythm slowly shifts and the city opens up towards the water.
On Skeppsholmen we encounter a car-free environment with older buildings, lush stretches and open views towards Saltsjön. Here, the city's history is interwoven with the place – such as when Gustav III was hailed by a singing crowd in 1772, led by Carl Michael Bellman.
Further towards Kastellholmen the structure changes. Here there are no streets in the traditional sense. The movement is governed by mountains, shoreline and building bodies. Stories about the inn Blås Ut follow us up towards the castle's height – a place known for its suppers, meetings and wide views over Djurgården, Saltsjöqvarn and Södermalm.
Old pictures and stories from the past make the layers of time visible. What has been is close, without taking over.
The walk ends at the castle on Kastellholmen, where the tranquility of the islands meets the view of a city in constant change.
